Roland races into Night One of Sunshine Nationals
On Thursday afternoon, Will Roland rolled into Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) to begin his Sunshine Nationals weekend with the Case Construction World of Outlaw Late Model Series.
Roland recorded a strong lap in his qualifying group, going third-fastest and setting himself up for a front-row starting position in his heat. Roland fell back a couple spots in his heat race, but still transferred to the 25-lap main event. For the $8,000 feature, Will completed 21-laps and was scored 24th when the checkers flew.
For Friday's $8,000-to-win show, Roland qualified seventh-fastest but fell to a fifth-place finish in his heat. Being relegated to a B-Main, Roland was unable to transfer to the main event with a sixth-place finish.
Saturday's $20,000 finale at Volusia Speedway Park was cancelled due to rain.
