Will Roland
Fifth-place outing in Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park
Coming off a victory at the Ice Bowl, Will Roland kicked off the Sunshine Nationals on Friday afternoon at Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) with Crate Racin' USA after Thursday's event was lost due to weather.
With a stacked 69-car field on the premises, Roland stopped the clock second-quickest in his group which placed him on the pole of the fourth preliminary feature. With Saturday's heat race lineups on the line, Will raced hard to a runner-up finish behind Brock Pinkerous in the quick 20-lap race.
Rolling off third in his heat race on Saturday, Will made quick work of his competitors and won which earned him an A-Main starting position on the second-row. With a $10,000 payday on the line, Roland ran as high as second before fading late to finish fifth.
Will currently sits two points behind point leader Matt Henderson in the Crate Racin' USA Winter Series point standings.
